She's a smart little girl

This is the conversation Sophie and I had the other day. I have to write it down so I never forget it.

Side note: 6 months ago when my grandpa passed away we went back and forth on bringing Sophie to the meet the family. We finally decided to bring the kids for a little while then Spencer's parents took them home. Sophie did really well and just assumed that he was sleeping.

So here it goes..
We are driving down the street past the funeral home and Sophie sees it. She got so excited!
Sophie: Mommy! Theres heaven right there. It's not in the sky anymore. Lets go see Grandpa Chicken.
Me: Soph, that's actually not heaven. It's where Grandpa Chicken went before he went to heaven ( I thought it would make more sense to her)
Soph: That's where he was having a nap when he didn't have anymore oweys huh?
Me: Yep. Grandpa doesn't have oweys anymore.
Soph: Do you know how Grandpa chicken got to heaven?
Me: How?
Soph: His little girl came and got him (they had a little 2 year old pass away)
Me: That's right Soph
Soph: Yep, because she has wings
(tears streaming down my face in complete silence. i have no idea where she got that from)
Soph:(big sigh) I miss Grandpa Chicken so much
Me: I miss him too Soph
Soph: Don't be sad mommy. If were good kids we'll see him again.

I think these little ones know a whole lot more than we think they do.

Wow. Sophie is such a sweetheart - such an intuitive little girl. What a touching story - totally brought tears to my eyes.

So sweet. I think you're right, they do know more than we think. It gives pretty sweet meaning to "be like a little child".

What a doll she is.

wow, to be a child again...I really believe that the veil is still very thin for them at that age....what a great conversation, and I am so glad you shared it and wrote it down!
