Shes here!!

Jan 27 at 11:50am little Ella Kate was born. After a night with the loudest winds I have ever heard in my life and very little sleep we woke up at 7:00 am and headed to the hospital. I had a c-section booked and had to be there by 8:00. I was sooooo nervous and excited.
Right before I went into surgery. I was all prepped and ready to go. Spence is a nerd!
They gave Spence scrubs that were a few sizes to small. I was laughing so hard.

After they froze me nice and good they got started right away. I had no idea they were even operating until the anestesiologist told me. I had a c-section with Sophie after a real long labor and no dilating. She was so stuck and there was no way that she was going to fit. My doctor told me that I would most likely have to have all my babies c-section. I booked a c-section with this pregnancy after a lot of going back and forth. We felt like we were making the right desicion but the last week I started to second guess myself. After the surgery my doctor told me that Ella was also very stuck just like Sophie and they had to use the forceps just to get here from under my ribs. That was all I needed to hear to know that I had done the right thing. I know that some think that C-sections are the devil but I can honestly say that it was an amazing experience and I felt completely present for the whole birth. When I had Sophie I was so tired from such a long labor and I wasn't freezing because my epidural had totally worn off and so they had to put me right under and I woke up feeling so groggy and confused and traumatized. I could feel everything after I woke up and have never felt such excruciating pain. This time the freezing from the spinal wore off slowly and even once it was all worn off I felt way less pain then the last time. Anyway immediatly after she was born they put her on my chest and I got to cuddle with her for about 10 minutes. She weighed 8 pounds 2 oz and was 20.5 inches long. This was taken right after she was born. She smelt so good and brand new. I was real emotional. Everyone in the OR was so great and joking around and keeping it nice and easy for me to stay calm. Spence and I were both really relaxed and excited.

Right when they brought her to me. She is heaven! I was so excited that she has Sophie's lips.

Spence got to go with the baby to the NICU while I went to the recovery room. They take all C-section babies to the NICU. She was perfectly healthy though. They bathed her and got her dressed and Spence and her had some bonding time. In the meantime I was in recovery with the nicest nurse EVER. I am not kidding she was so meant to be a nurse. I felt great the whole time and just wanted to see Ella again. I love all the pictures Spence took while they were in the NICU. He did real good.
This picture reminds me so much of Sophie when she was born
Within about 30 minutes of me getting back to my (private) room- (halleluia), Sophie got there. She was so cute with the baby. I was so happy about that.
I laughed so hard when I saw this pictureGrandma and Ella
Kara and Ella Kimber and Ella Grandpa Pankhurst and Ella Our little family. I couldn't be happier!!
Kristi and I and our babies. Kaia always seemed so small to me until she was next to Ella
I am so in love She is so good and content so far. Always sleeping or just looking around. yes I realize i am wearing a granny nightgown but man is it comfy
After 3 days at the hospital we finally got to go home. Sophie loves her little sister! I think these are the two cutest little girls in the whole world!!
I am so in love with little Ella. She is such an angel. All the nurses kept saying how calm and content she is. She is feeding so good and I am feeling great. I honestly don't feel like I had a c-section. I have no regrets about it and feel totally content with having all my kids the same way. It has been such an amazing experience and I am so grateful for our healthy little sweetheart.

Robert really enjoyed seeing Spencer in tight scrubs. He said it brings back the good old days. I'n not sure what that means. Congratulations on baby Ella. We like her name. Cute! Cute! Cute!

I agree, C-sections are wonderful! Sam was so snug she wouldn't move either in Labour. Now that I have heard how good your experience was with it booked, I will more seriously consider that for the next one...saves having to go through labour and then have surgery. Glad she came...such a beautiful Baby!!
